A woman who killed her two children in Syrdarya to avenge her husband was sentenced to more than 13 years in prison

A woman who killed her two children in Syrdarya in revenge for her husband was sentenced to more than 13 years in prison. The Zamon news program reported this.

The incident occurred on February 1, 2024, in a rented apartment in Gulistan district. The 32-year-old woman decided to take revenge on her husband after a disagreement with him. She first strangled her 6-year-old son, and then her 4-year-old son, who was in the next room.

In order to hide the crime, the woman laid the children's bodies side by side and turned on the gas stove and taps. She tried to give the impression that the children had been poisoned by carbon monoxide. She also left a note for her husband and attempted suicide, but her life was saved thanks to the medical care provided.

The father, who returned home at night, witnessed this terrible situation. The forensic medical examination confirmed that the children died not from carbon monoxide, but from mechanical asphyxiation (suffocation).

The case was considered by the Shirin City Criminal Court. The woman was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 97, Part 2, Subparagraphs “a” and “v” of the Criminal Code (intentional killing of two or more persons; a person whose helplessness was known to the perpetrator).

Article 57 of the Criminal Code was applied and she was sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in prison. The woman is scheduled to serve her sentence in a general regime colony.

Earlier, a man who beat his wife’s 5-month-old baby to death in Tashkent was sentenced to 16 years in prison. In another case, a son was sentenced in Samarkand for beating his mother.
