Who will win the "Ballon d'Or"?
The head coach of the French club Paris Saint-Germain, Spanish specialist Luis Enrique, said that the 2026 "Ballon d'Or" award should be given to a Parisian player.
Last season, PSG won the French championship and triumphed in the Champions League for the second consecutive time. Due to the team's successful performances, several of its players are being viewed as the main contenders for the prestigious individual award.
"I think the 'Ballon d'Or' should go to a Paris Saint-Germain player," Enrique said.
Earlier, Enrique had given special recognition to Spain national team midfielder Fabián Ruiz. The Spaniard played an important role in the Parisians' achievements at the club level, and in the summer of 2026, he became a World Champion with his national team. Enrique considers Ruiz to be one of the most deserving candidates for the "Ballon d'Or".
Another contender from PSG, Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, is regularly mentioned. Last season, he became one of the key players in the Parisians' victorious run in the Champions League, and his performances were highly rated by experts. He was named the best player of the Champions League.
The list of contenders also includes PSG and France national team forward Ousmane Dembélé. He is the reigning holder of the "Ballon d'Or". The French footballer was awarded this prize following the results of 2025, after an outstanding season spent with the Parisians.
The 2026 "Ballon d'Or" award ceremony will take place on October 26 in London. This event will be held in the capital of England for the first time in history.
