What determines whether a pension is high or low?
What is the average pension in Uzbekistan? How much do seniority and official income affect the amount of money? For example, in October, Dilmurod Davletov, a conditional teacher who has been working at a school for 32 years, and Mavluda Aliyeva, who has 35 years of experience, will retire. What is the basis for their payment and how is it calculated? Can the pensions of two people who work in the same profession or in the same organization differ significantly from each other?

What does the amount of the pension depend on?
It is natural for people who have retired or are getting older to ask questions like "How much pension will the state give me?", "I have worked all my life, why is my pension small?", or "I worked with my colleague in the same place, in the same position, why does his pension have a higher one?".
So, how is the amount of the pension calculated? What period of salary is taken into account? How much do seniority and official income affect the amount of the pension?
How is the old-age pension calculated?
An old-age pension is assigned to men when they reach the age of 60 and have at least 25 years of work experience, and to women when they reach the age of 55 and have at least 20 years of work experience. Also, if there is at least 7 years of work experience, an incomplete old-age pension is awarded in proportion to the length of service. If there is not even 7 years of service, the citizen is granted an old-age pension (at the age of 65 for men, at the age of 60 for women).
The amount of the pension in Uzbekistan is calculated according to the following formula: P = PTM + OS + PU.
Where PTM is the base amount of the pension (55 percent of the average monthly salary), OS is the increase in the pension for additional service, PU is additional bonuses. Note: when determining the average monthly salary, the best 5 consecutive years of salary in the last 10 years of work are taken into account. In this case, salaries higher than 12 times the base amount for calculating the pension (from July 1, 2026 - 504 thousand soums) (6 million 48 thousand soums) are not taken into account. Salaries in previous years are indexed taking into account the coefficient of increase in salaries, that is, their current value is calculated.
For example, conditional Dilmurod Davlatov has been a teacher at a school in the Boysun district of Surkhandarya region for 32 years. He will reach retirement age on October 1. The average monthly salary for the best 5 years in the past period is 4 million soums. This salary does not exceed the maximum limit of 6 million 48 thousand soums, so it is taken into account in full when calculating.
The base amount of the pension is 55 percent of 4 million soums = 2 million 200 thousand soums.
