The share of new pensioners with less than full work experience in Uzbekistan has reached 61 percent

The number of new pensioners with incomplete work experience in Uzbekistan has increased significantly. According to the Pension Fund, the share of citizens with incomplete work experience among newly assigned pensions in 2010 was 6 percent, while by 2025 this figure had reached 61 percent.

According to current legislation, to receive a full pension, men need 25 years of work experience and women 20 years. Citizens who do not have the established minimum length of service are assigned a pension with incomplete work experience in proportion to their existing length of service.

Currently, two out of every three new pensioners retire without a full length of service. The share of such citizens among the total number of pensioners has also increased from 3 percent in 2010 to 39 percent in 2025.

The Pension Fund cites the main reasons for this situation as informal work, receiving wages in an "envelope", non-payment of social tax, failure to submit documents confirming employment to the archive, and in some periods, citizens were not covered by official work.

Also, 47 percent of pensioners receive pensions in the amount of 820 thousand to 1 million soums. The amount of the pension depends on the official length of service, salary and the amount of social tax paid.

At the plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis on August 7, amendments and additions were approved to the Law "On State Pension Provision of Citizens" aimed at improving the procedure for assigning pensions. This law introduces a proactive procedure for assigning disability pensions to citizens with a disability of group I or II, that is, without a separate application from the citizen.
