The second Fergana Peace Forum, held in Khujand, was attended by high-ranking representatives of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, international organizations, and delegations from more than ten countries.
The forum discussed interregional cooperation, mutual trust, water and energy issues, as well as the practical significance of the Khujand Declaration.
According to the khokim of Fergana region, Khayrullo Bozorov, the second meeting of the Fergana Peace Forum, being held in the city of Khujand, has become an important platform for developing cooperation between the border regions of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. According to him, within the framework of the forum, attention is being focused on expanding cooperation in economic, social, cultural, and educational areas, as well as further strengthening friendly relations between the regions.
Bozorov assessed the forum as one of the practical expressions of the treaty on eternal friendship signed by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.
“Most importantly, a legal framework has been created for us. The interregional council was established on the initiative of our presidents,” said the khokim of Fergana region.
He noted that this council has become a mechanism for permanent practical dialogue between the border regions of Uzbekistan, the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan, and the Sughd region of Tajikistan.
“Therefore, we are in touch almost every day. If there is any issue, we communicate by phone or have the opportunity to meet at the border and resolve a specific issue on the spot,” said Khayrullo Bozorov.
According to the khokim, the interregional council and similar dialogue platforms create opportunities for the continuous continuation of practical cooperation between the border regions of the three countries.
