President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has called for more active development of the Tajik language on the internet, in science, and in the technological sphere, including in areas related to artificial intelligence. This was stated in his address on the occasion of State Language Day, which is celebrated in Tajikistan on October 5.
According to Rahmon, the rapid development of science, engineering, technology, and AI requires constant updating of specialized terminology. At the same time, in his opinion, new concepts should, as far as possible, be formed on the basis of the Tajik language's own lexical resources.
The President emphasized that specialists need to propose clear and precise terms that correspond to the content of specific industries. Such an approach, he believes, should help the language adapt to the emergence of new technologies and scientific fields.
Rahmon paid special attention to the digital environment. He called for wider use of the norms of the literary Tajik language on the internet and for increasing the number of scientific and industry-specific materials in the Tajik language, taking into account the country's national and cultural characteristics.
The President named language education for youth as another key area. According to him, from the very first stages of education, children and adolescents need to be taught the social significance of the state language, develop fluent oral and written speech, and foster a respectful attitude toward it.
Rahmon also stated that a good knowledge of the literary Tajik language helps in mastering foreign languages and plays an important role in shaping the national identity of the younger generation.
The head of state recalled that during the years of independence, the country adopted the law "On the State Language of the Republic of Tajikistan" and its development program for 2020–2030, established the Committee on Language and Terminology, and publishes industry-specific and explanatory dictionaries.
According to Rahmon's assessment, over the 35 years of independence, the Tajik language has significantly expanded its importance in public life and has become one of the tools for strengthening national identity and the country's unity.
In concluding his address, the President called for respecting the norms of the language, preserving its purity, and consistently expanding its scope of application — from education and culture to science, technology, and the global digital space.
