President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon became an honorary doctor of Korea University
**Doctor on Even Days**
During his official visit to Seoul, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited Korea University, where he spoke with the faculty and students. By decision of the Academic Council of this prestigious university, the Tajik leader was awarded the title of honorary doctor. The head of Tajikistan noted that he views this step as a clear confirmation of the mutual interest of both parties in further strengthening scientific, educational, and friendly ties.
Speaking to the audience, Emomali Rahmon spoke in detail about the development of the education system in Tajikistan. He reported that over the 35 years of state independence, the number of universities in the country has increased from 13 to 51, and the total number of students has more than tripled, reaching 230,000 people.
Today, over 40,000 young citizens of Tajikistan are receiving education in fifty foreign countries. In particular, more than 350 Tajik students are currently studying in South Korea. The President confirmed Dushanbe's course toward expanding academic exchanges and conducting joint research with Korean partners, adding that Korean language study centers are already successfully operating in eight universities in Tajikistan.
As part of the visit, Emomali Rahmon also held a separate meeting with Tajik students studying in the Republic of Korea. The head of state urged the young people to make the most effective use of the opportunities provided, to study foreign languages diligently, and to strictly observe academic discipline.
