Volkswagen and Audi are recalling 2.1 million vehicles worldwide to replace a component

A defect has been identified in the steering mechanism of the Audi Q3, VW Golf, Golf Variant, Tiguan, Touran, and Caddy models.

Volkswagen and Audi are recalling more than 2.1 million vehicles worldwide due to a potential issue with a connection located in the steering mechanism. This was reported by the General German Automobile Club (ADAC).

This concerns Audi Q3 models manufactured between October 31, 2017, and May 23, 2024, as well as Volkswagen Golf, Golf Variant, Tiguan, Touran, and Caddy models manufactured between September 24, 2013, and July 1, 2024.

The manufacturer explained that in some cases, a bolt in the connection located in the steering mechanism may degrade due to corrosion.

Owners of vehicles affected by the recall campaign must contact a service center. There, the bolt will be replaced with a more corrosion-resistant one.

In September, Volkswagen announced that it was recalling more than 208.7 thousand 2018 Tiguan, 2018–2019 Atlas, and 2019–2021 Audi Q3 models in the US. The company cited the risk of premature corrosion and breakage of the steering bolt as the reason.
