BYD to provide additional maintenance for more than 183 thousand vehicles
The BYD company will provide additional service for 183,211 vehicles manufactured for the Chinese domestic market from 2014 to 2022. This was caused by defects identified in the braking system. The recall includes models from the Qin and Tang series.
BYD to provide additional technical service for more than 183 thousand vehicles
The Chinese company BYD is recalling more than 183 thousand of its vehicles for technical service due to defects in the braking system.
According to information provided by the Chinese regulator, the additional service program covers only the following models manufactured for the Chinese domestic market from 2014 to 2022: 58,026 Tang series vehicles manufactured from March 28, 2015, to December 21, 2018; 77,846 new-generation Tang DM vehicles manufactured from May 19, 2018, to January 14, 2022; 7,023 new-generation Tang EV vehicles manufactured from December 27, 2018, to October 25, 2021; and 40,316 Qin series vehicles manufactured from June 27, 2014, to June 9, 2019. The total number of recalled vehicles is 183,211.
As a result of investigations, it was found that the material of the special part limiting the brake pedal has a manufacturing defect. With long-term use of the vehicle, this part may crack, break, or dislodge. The most dangerous aspect is that when the part fails, the vehicle's rear brake lights will remain continuously lit even if the driver is not pressing the brake pedal. This can give incorrect signals to other drivers coming from behind and cause serious accident situations on the roads.
