Uztelecom launched data centers in Bukhara and Kokand to develop artificial intelligence and cloud technologies
On September 22, Uztelecom launched two new data centers in Bukhara and Kokand. The facilities were opened by the Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, and the Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan, Kenji Hirata. The ceremony took place on the first day of the event at the company's stand as part of ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026.

These data centers are designed for the development of artificial intelligence, cloud services, processing of large volumes of data, and high-performance computing. Government organizations, businesses, and technology companies will have the opportunity to use modern computing power without the need to create such infrastructure independently.
The new facilities operate within a single contour of the UzCloud national cloud platform. The cloud services portfolio includes infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform solutions (PaaS), software as a service (SaaS), object storage (S3), and backup (BaaS) services. Customers pay only for the capacity they actually use.
As a separate direction, computing power for artificial intelligence is provided within the framework of AI Cloud and GPU-as-a-Service services. The data centers in Bukhara and Kokand are equipped with special GPU servers. They are necessary for training and running artificial intelligence models, machine learning, analyzing large data arrays, image recognition, video analysis, and creating digital twins.
The new data centers are located more than 300 kilometers from Tashkent, becoming the data centers located furthest from the country's capital. Placing computing power in different regions ensures disaster tolerance: if a failure occurs at one site, the load is transferred to another.
Both data center projects received Tier III Design certificates from the Uptime Institute. The certification confirms the compliance of the project solutions with global requirements for the reliability and continuous operation of engineering systems. Backup cooling and power supply systems, as well as additional communication channels, are provided at the sites, allowing equipment maintenance to be carried out without interrupting services.
The data centers are connected to the Uztelecom backbone network and the TAS-IX national internet traffic exchange point.
Uztelecom's infrastructure is developing taking into account the requirements of the international standard for information security management — ISO/IEC 27001. The company plans to confirm the compliance of the data centers with the PCI DSS standard, which defines data protection requirements.
