Uzbeks injured in Omsk fire remain in intensive care

The condition of two Uzbek citizens injured in a fire at a construction site in Omsk, Russia, on August 15 remains serious.

According to the Dunyo news agency, the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk, Aslam Akbarov, visited the emergency hospital No. 1 in Omsk and was informed about the condition of their compatriots.

According to the doctor on duty, citizen I.Z. was admitted to the intensive care unit with burn injuries, his condition is serious and he is connected to an artificial respiration apparatus (IVL). The second citizen O.E. is currently in intensive care in the purulent-septic department, and his condition is also assessed as serious.

Russian doctors are currently holding a video conference with their Moscow colleagues, and the Russian side is paying special attention to the rehabilitation of the injured, the report says.

On August 17, the Consul General held a meeting with the chief physician of the hospital, the heads of the burn and purulent-septic departments, and the head of the medical service. This issue has been taken under the special supervision of the Consulate General.

It should be recalled that the incident occurred on August 15 in the area of the "Kvartali Draverta" residential complex. According to preliminary information, the fire was caused by the ignition of construction materials during welding work.

11 workers who were at the scene were hospitalized, three of whom were discharged after a medical examination, and eight were hospitalized in the intensive care unit. According to local media, these patients had burns ranging from 20 to 90 percent.

The regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia initially reported that all the victims were citizens of Uzbekistan. Soon after, the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Omonulla Fayziyev, announced that only two of them were citizens of Uzbekistan.

In turn, the Omsk Inform newspaper reported that one person died in the fire.
