Uzbekistan's top universities to receive 500 million soums each for graduate employment

Uzbekistan's top universities will receive 500 million soums each for graduate employment

Uzbekistan is introducing a Graduate Quality Index for higher education institutions. It will show how successfully former students find employment, retain their jobs, and what income they receive. The twenty universities with the best indicators will be eligible to receive 500 million soums each year.

The index calculation will be based on four criteria: the share of employed graduates, their employment stability, average monthly income, and employment category. The calculation will include Bachelor's and Master's degree graduates of the respective year.

The evaluation of results will be entrusted to the Education Quality Assurance Agency.

For this purpose, a separate digital platform will be developed, which will automatically receive information from the information systems of government bodies. It is planned to launch the platform by November 10, and to connect the necessary databases by December 1.

Universities will be able to track their indicators through personal accounts. If there are attempts to artificially improve results, the educational institution may be excluded from the rating for the current year.

Annually, the 20 universities with the highest results will be eligible to receive 500 million soums each from the state budget. The funds are intended, among other things, to stimulate the work of university career centers.

, that almost every sixth graduate of Uzbek universities of the 2024/2025 academic year was unable to find a job.
