Almost every sixth university graduate in Uzbekistan was unable to find a job.

Almost one in six Uzbek university graduates failed to find a job.

While the majority of university graduates in Uzbekistan successfully find employment after receiving their degrees, approximately one in six remains unemployed. These findings are based on an analysis of employment data for 249,432 people who graduated in the 2024/2025 academic year.

A Podrobno.uz correspondent reviewed the results of the "Graduate Quality Index" study conducted by the National Agency for Education Quality Assurance. The study covered graduates from 170 higher education institutions. On average, it took them three months and five days to find their first job.

The likelihood of finding employment varies significantly depending on their specialization. The best results are observed among graduates in the social sciences and humanities – 84% of them found work. 83% of graduates in creative arts and sports are employed, 82% of graduates in practical sciences are employed, and 75% of graduates in medical sciences are employed.

However, data for the medical field requires clarification: the statistics show that 16% of graduates remain unemployed, while the employment rate is 75%.

Graduates from private universities had the shortest job search time – 2 months and 10 days. Graduates from public universities found employment on average in 2 months and 29 days, while graduates from branches of foreign universities found employment in 3 months and 20 days.

However, having a job does not always mean stable employment. Only 42.9% of graduates maintained stable employment over the past six months. Among graduates from branches of foreign universities, this figure was 49.8%, 46.7% among non-public universities, and 42.1% among public universities.

The average official monthly income of graduates was 4.9 million soums. In Tashkent, this figure was higher – 6.6 million soums. Among individual universities, the highest incomes were recorded among graduates of Inha University in Tashkent (12.6 million soums), Westminster International University in Tashkent (12.5 million soums), and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (10.6 million soums).

According to the study, the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan topped the Graduate Quality Index with a score of 81.5. Second place went to the Nukus branch of the State Conservatory with a score of 79.6, and third to the Webster University Center for the Implementation of Educational Programs in Tashkent with a score of 76.3.

The index is calculated automatically based on data from 10 government information systems and takes into account such parameters as job placement rate, employment stability, income level, and type of employment.
