**Uzbek universities offer approximately 32,000 vacancies**
From August 22 to 28, applicants in Uzbekistan will have the opportunity to apply for the remaining vacancies at higher education institutions. According to the press service of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, following the completion of the main entrance examinations, approximately 32,000 vacancies remain at the country's universities.
This additional admission opportunity is available to applicants who scored at least 56.7 points but were not recommended for admission to any of their five chosen universities. They will be able to select vacancies at other higher education institutions and apply through the official website of the Agency for the Assessment of Knowledge and Qualifications.
Available tracks will be determined based on the subjects in which the applicant has taken exams, as well as the language of instruction. It is important to note that admission to the sixth track is only possible on a contractual basis.
No additional examinations are required for selection. Applicants will be admitted in descending order of their scores.
This year, competition for university admission has increased. The average passing score for state grants was 134.6 points, while for contractual tuition, it was 93.7 points, with a maximum possible score of 189 points. By comparison, last year, these figures were lower: 121.8 and 84.9 points, respectively.
Moreover, one in three applicants failed to achieve the minimum score of 56.7 points on this year's entrance exams. In 2023, almost half of applicants failed to meet the minimum threshold.
The most popular universities during the current admissions campaign were Tashkent University of Economics, the University of World Languages, and the National University. Among the most popular fields of study were general medicine, economics, and philology.
In some educational programs, the number of applicants who scored the maximum score exceeded the number of available places.
