Uzbekistan's Ministry of Higher Education will investigate complaints regarding the mandatory installation of the "Xavfsiz talaba" application
Reports have surfaced that students at a number of higher education institutions in Tashkent were required to install the "Xavfsiz talaba" mobile application.
According to students, in some cases, refusing to install the application resulted in them being denied entry to university buildings and disrupting their classes.
Students stated that administrative pressure was accompanied by the suspension of the educational process. In some classrooms, classes were halted so that students could install the application.
The "Xavfsiz talaba" application combines several functions for students. Through it, users can access class schedules, make tuition payments, and track academic performance. The application also provides an option to call emergency services, similar to dialing 102.
The active rollout of the platform began in October 2026. Separate meetings dedicated to the implementation of the application were held at the Ministry of Higher Education.
At the same time, the ministry stated that it had not issued any instructions to force students to install the application.
Following reports that students were being denied entry to higher education institutions, the ministry's press service announced the formation of a working group to investigate the situation and ensure students' right to education without obstacles.
At the time of publication, no information regarding the results of the investigation was available.
