According to the regulations, the squads can include players under 23 years of age, as well as 3 players over 23. The Uzbekistan national team is competing in the tournament with an under-21 squad. This was done so that the team participating in the qualifiers for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics could gain the necessary experience.
The football tournament of the Asian Games has been held since 1990. Iran and South Korea have won it 3 times each. In addition, gold medals have been won by Uzbekistan (in 1994), Qatar, and Japan.
