Uzbekistan to receive over 100 million euros to strengthen landscape climate resilience

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) has approved the regional program "Climate-Resilient Landscapes in Central Asia" (CLiCA) with a total value of 264.4 million euros, according to the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of Uzbekistan.

The program was prepared by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) jointly with Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. On the Uzbek side, the work on the program was coordinated by the National Climate Change Center under the Committee.

Under the program, 103.7 million euros will be allocated to Uzbekistan. These funds will be directed toward the restoration of forests and pastures, the implementation of climate-resilient technologies in agriculture, as well as expanding farmers' access to financial instruments necessary for adapting to the effects of climate change.

Expected results of the program in Uzbekistan:

"This approval is an important step toward more resilient communities and landscapes. Together with our partners in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, we intend to turn a shared goal into a long-term result for the people and nature of Central Asia," GIZ noted.
