Uzbekistan will chair the Non-Aligned Movement for the first time from 2027 to 2029.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that Uzbekistan will continue to pursue a multifaceted, restrained and balanced foreign policy in order to become an important center of international diplomacy. Economic diplomacy will remain one of the priorities of foreign policy.
Uzbekistan will chair the Non-Aligned Movement for the first time in 2027-2029. This global structure unites more than 120 countries, and initiatives aimed at increasing its effectiveness will be actively promoted. A constructive policy towards Afghanistan will also be resolutely continued.
The President expressed gratitude to the representatives of the diplomatic corps, foreign media representatives, and high-ranking guests from the United States, Turkey and Singapore who attended the ceremony for their fruitful cooperation.
The Head of State also noted that in the context of global climate change, water and environmental issues are becoming increasingly urgent. It is planned to increase the coverage of water-saving technologies in arable land to 100 percent in the next five years.
