Uzbekistan U-23 lost to Japan in the Asian Games semifinals on penalties
The Uzbekistan U-23 national youth football team failed to reach the final of the Asian Games football tournament. In the semifinals, the team lost to Japan in a penalty shootout — 8:9, following a 1:1 draw in regular and extra time.

Uzbekistan took the lead as early as the 8th minute. Sardorbek Bakhramov received a pass from the left flank and sent the ball into the net of the Japanese national team.
The Japanese managed to equalize only in the 88th minute. Sena Ishibashi scored the goal, sending the match into extra time.
In the remaining time of the main match and in the two halves of extra time, neither team scored again. The outcome of the confrontation was decided in a penalty shootout.
In the football lottery, the Japanese national team proved to be more precise, winning with a score of 9:8. Thus, the Japanese team advanced to the final, where they will meet South Korea. In the other semifinal, the South Koreans beat China 2:1.
The Uzbekistan national team will now compete for the bronze medals. Their opponent will be China.
The final match and the third-place game will take place on October 3.
