Uzbekistan to launch a new program for training and employing citizens in South Korea
The President announced a new three-year program for the training and employment of citizens of Uzbekistan in South Korea. According to him, the main focus will be on vocational training. Additionally, Uzbek citizens in Korea will be offered a state-funded six-month retraining program at leading universities.

On September 15, during a meeting with compatriots working and studying in South Korea, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the launch of a new three-year program for training and employing Uzbek citizens in this country.
The meeting took place in an informal atmosphere as part of the President's state visit to the Republic of Korea. During the conversation, topics of education, vocational training, employment, and applying the experience of compatriots for the development of Uzbekistan were raised.
Mirziyoyev noted that education remains one of the key priorities of state policy.
"Some may like it, some may not, but I will say one thing: teacher, teacher, education, education, knowledge, knowledge," the President said in a report by the "Uzbekistan 24" TV channel.
According to him, Uzbekistan, together with South Korea, plans to prepare a new three-year program that will include training the country's citizens and their employment.
"With Korea, we will develop a new three-year program to bring our children here for work and training. As you can see, the first issue is a profession," Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated.
The President emphasized that he tasks university heads with paying more attention not only to academic education but also to students acquiring a practical profession.
"I even instruct university rectors: conduct your classes until three o'clock, and after three, teach my children a profession. A person who has a profession will never be lost," he said.
According to Mirziyoyev, the new cooperation program with Korea will differ from existing formats.
"The biggest issue is that we will make a three-year program with Korea. It will be completely different," the President noted.
Separately, Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced plans to give Uzbek citizens in South Korea the opportunity to undergo additional training and master a new specialty.
According to the President, within a month, representatives of the "El-yurt umidi" Foundation are to meet with compatriots in Korea.
"There is one delicate issue that concerns you. Within a month, representatives of the Presidential Foundation, the 'El-yurt umidi' Foundation, will come to you and talk to all of you," he said.
Those who would like to change their field of study or acquire another profession are proposed to be given the opportunity to study for six months at one of the leading universities in South Korea.
"If you are slightly dissatisfied with what you are currently studying, talk to them. Based on the Korean experience, I want to send you for six months to the best universities in Korea to learn a new profession. The President himself will pay for both the stipend and the tuition," Shavkat Mirziyoyev declared.
The President announced that upon returning to Uzbekistan, he intends to make a separate decision on this matter. In the future, the Korean experience may be extended to other countries as well.
In addition, five joint projects with South Korea have been launched in Uzbekistan, including the production of the Kia Sonet Prime and the construction of the National Oncology Center. The Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of Uzbekistan and the Exim Bank of Korea signed a memorandum on establishing a hub for processing strategic minerals and forming their supply chains.
