Uzbekistan Denies Reports of Fines for Lack of Eco-Stickers
The Road Traffic Safety Service of Uzbekistan has denied information circulating on social media claiming that, starting January 1, a fine of 10 basic calculating values (BCV) will allegedly be introduced for not having an ecological sticker, and that obtaining one will become a paid service.
The RTSS stated that there are no legal grounds for such measures and urged citizens to rely on information published on the official resources of authorized state bodies.
Uzbekistan operates an "Ecological Transport" system, under which vehicles are divided into three categories based on their level of environmental impact: green, yellow, and red.
The corresponding sticker can be obtained via the My.gov.uz portal or at RTSS registration units. The initial issuance, as well as a re-issuance once a year, are provided free of charge.
The ecological sticker is issued indefinitely, so it does not need to be changed annually. At the same time, owners of vehicles categorized as yellow and red can undergo a re-diagnostics for free once a year to obtain a higher ecological category.
The rules for issuing ecological stickers were approved by Resolution No. 750 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan dated November 28, 2025.
The RTSS recommends that motorists determine the ecological category of their vehicles and apply for the corresponding sticker.
