Uzbekistan ranked first in the CIS for wired internet speed
Behind this result lies the work carried out over the years to modernize the networks. This work was conducted by the entire sector: the country's telecom operators and internet service providers, as well as Uztelecom, whose backbone infrastructure is used by the entire market. At "ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026", this cooperation expanded even further.
Uzbekistan led the CIS in wired internet speed
According to Speedtest Global Index data, in August 2026, Uzbekistan took first place among CIS countries in terms of fixed internet speed. The average download speed was 94.50 Mbps. Meanwhile, mobile internet speed increased from 62.42 Mbps to 65.27 Mbps.
Over the past few years, the requirements for home internet use have changed significantly: content volume has grown, the number of devices has increased, and the number of users in a single household has also risen. Previously, speeds of 30 and 50 Mbps were insufficient for such a load.
This need was met collectively. Over the past year, almost all broadband operators increased speeds in their mass tariffs, with 100 Mbps becoming the standard offering. Many invested in modernizing their networks to provide subscribers with new services, including television, alongside speed. This growth relies on a common foundation: backbone channels, regional nodes, and international connections, a large part of which belongs to the Uztelecom network. The company itself maintained a high speed level in the market and offered 150 Mbps tariffs.
Uztelecom is simultaneously a mobile operator, a broadband operator, and a provider of IT infrastructure — cloud services and commercial data centers. Expanding coverage within the country, increasing speed, and creating computing infrastructure are among the tasks of the "Digital Uzbekistan - 2030" strategy.
The company's network is not used solely by its own subscribers. A large part of the entire IT industry relies on its backbone channels: when a regional provider connects a new area, traffic usually reaches the world through this network.
Telecom operators provide channels and network capacity to each other, place equipment on partners' premises, and use their cloud resources. The subscriber does not see this market, but how quickly a provider can connect a new area and what speed it can provide depends precisely on this.
Uztelecom cooperates with the country's leading telecom operators and internet service providers. Among them are Mobiuz, Ucell, Beeline, Sarkor, Comnet, and Turon. This cooperation has been ongoing for several years. At the ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026 exhibition, the company expanded its scope of cooperation with a number of other partners: the parties agreed to increase the volume of shared network resources and continue infrastructure development.
