Uzbekistan ranked 52nd in terms of entry openness, while the Uzbek passport placed 132nd in the world

Uzbekistan ranked 52nd among 199 countries in terms of entry openness for foreign citizens, while the Uzbek passport placed 132nd in the global ranking. This is stated in the "Passport Reports" for 2026.

According to the ranking, the mobility score of the Uzbek passport is 69 destinations, which corresponds to a global coverage of 34.8%.

Of these, 28 destinations are accessible visa-free, in another 38 countries a visa on arrival or another simplified procedure classified under the same access category is provided. Three more destinations are accessible via electronic travel authorization (eTA). For 129 destinations, citizens of Uzbekistan must obtain a visa in advance.

The highest access rate is recorded in Central Asia — 75% of destinations. In Asia, the overall access level is 59.2%, and Uzbekistan ranks 29th among 50 Asian countries.

In the Gulf countries, access stands at 66.7%, and in the Middle East — 58.8%. In the Caribbean, the figure reaches 50%, in Africa — 42.6%, in North America — 30.4%, and in Oceania — 28.6%.

Access to Europe remains the most restricted: out of 47 European destinations, 5 are accessible visa-free, while 42 require a visa in advance.

Among the visa-free destinations, the report names the UAE, Turkey, Russia, China, and Georgia. At the same time, some countries require additional formal procedures, such as filling out a migration or tourist card.

The category of visa on arrival or other simplified procedures includes, in particular, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Nepal, Indonesia, and Cambodia.

**Visa Reciprocity**

The report separately examines the reciprocity of visa regimes. 96 countries allow their citizens to enter Uzbekistan visa-free, with an electronic authorization, or with a visa on arrival, but citizens of Uzbekistan require a visa in advance to travel to these states. Among them are Germany, the USA, the UK, Japan, and Canada.

In the opposite group are 25 countries: they provide Uzbek citizens with visa-free or simplified entry, but require a visa from their own citizens when traveling to Uzbekistan. These include Iran, Kenya, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

In additional comparisons, Uzbekistan ranks 22nd among 57 countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, 6th among 10 states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and 55th among 57 OSCE member states. Among presidential republics, the country ranks 39th out of 57.

At the same time, the authors of the ranking separately emphasize that the entry openness score and the passport ranking reflect different directions: the former shows the conditions for foreigners entering Uzbekistan, while the latter shows the opportunities for citizens of Uzbekistan to travel abroad.

When compiling the passport ranking, visa-free destinations, entry with a visa on arrival or other simplified procedures, as well as eTA, are taken into account. The possibility of obtaining an electronic visa in advance is not considered visa-free entry or eTA.
