Uzbekistan is among the top five countries for solo travelers.

Uzbekistan ranked fifth in the Solo Travel Index 2026, compiled by the international travel platform Much Better Adventures. In the 2026 Solo Travel Index, the country ranked behind only Kyrgyzstan, Italy, Japan, and Portugal.

To compile the ranking, which covered 26 destinations, experts analyzed various factors, including booking trends, traveler reviews, food costs, safety, visa requirements, and biodiversity. The development of tourism infrastructure and the availability of hiking trails were also considered.

By "solo travel," the authors of the ranking define travel without familiar company; tourists can join a small organized group while maintaining independence.

Much Better Adventures experts noted increased interest in Uzbekistan, especially after the introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for US citizens. Among the country's advantages, they highlighted routes through the Nurata Mountains, the Kyzylkum Desert, and Lake Aydarkul, the rich historical heritage of Samarkand and Bukhara, and the relatively low number of tourists.

It was previously reported that in the first seven months of 2026, Uzbekistan received a record 7.75 million foreign tourists, a 22.6% increase over the previous year.
