Not America or Europe: Uzbek tourists choose other destinations
According to the National Statistics Committee, 4.4 million Uzbek citizens made tourist trips abroad from January to July 2026. This is 45,600 more than in the same period the previous year.
Neighboring countries, as well as countries associated with traditional tourist and religious routes, clearly dominate the most popular destinations. The United States and European countries did not make the top ten most visited destinations.
From January to July, the largest number of Uzbek citizens visited:
Kyrgyzstan — 1,981,542;
Kazakhstan — 805,437;
Tajikistan — 744,974;
Russia — 222,605;
Saudi Arabia — 167,337;
Turkey — 166,893;
United Arab Emirates — 47,020;
China — 43,581;
Egypt — 32,470;
Vietnam — 28,224.
Thus, three neighboring countries—Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan—have become the main destinations for most Uzbek citizens' international travel, accounting for over 3.5 million outbound trips.
However, longer-distance destinations remain significantly less popular than nearby countries. Even Turkey and Saudi Arabia, which were among the top five, each received less than 170,000 tourists from Uzbekistan.
