Uzbekistan proposed to toughen liability for industrial safety violations

Uzbekistan has proposed to increase penalties for industrial safety violations at hazardous production facilities if they cause harm to human life and health.

Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis passed the corresponding bill in the first reading.

The amendments provide for changes to the Criminal Code, as well as the introduction of administrative fines for officials who fail to comply with industrial safety requirements, do not ensure state control at hazardous facilities, or fail to implement measures to prevent accidents and prepare for the elimination of their consequences.

It is proposed to increase liability for repeated offenses. In addition, the bill provides for clarifying the powers of authorized bodies and improving their legal status.

The proposed changes are expected to increase the effectiveness of industrial safety control and reduce the risk of accidents and incidents.

Earlier, the Senate of Uzbekistan approved a law strengthening liability for violations of the rules of state water accounting and the use of water management facilities. The document also provides for the automated registration of water use agreements in electronic form through a special information system.
