Nuclear safety bill sent to the Senate
The deputies adopted a bill clarifying the powers of state bodies and strengthening liability for violations of industrial, radiation, and nuclear safety requirements.
Nuclear Safety Bill Referred to Senate
The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan has approved in the second reading a bill aimed at improving legislation in the field of industrial, radiation, and nuclear safety.
According to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the document envisages strengthening state control, clarifying the powers of authorized bodies, and introducing additional liability measures.
The bill provides for amendments and additions to the current legislation regulating industrial, radiation, and nuclear safety, as well as the use of atomic energy. The proposed norms are designed to further regulate legal relations and increase the efficiency of state control.
In the Code of Administrative Responsibility, it is proposed to establish liability for violating norms and rules in the field of atomic energy use. In addition, taking into account the ongoing administrative reforms, the powers and legal status of the authorized state bodies are being clarified.
It is also proposed to make specific amendments to the Law "On the Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes." In particular, it provides for the possibility of applying financial sanctions to legal entities. This is expected to increase the responsibility of entities in the relevant field and strengthen compliance with established requirements.
For the second reading, the bill was finalized by the responsible committee, taking into account the proposals and recommendations of deputies.
During the preparation of the document, certain norms were excluded from it, taking into account the interests of business entities. In addition, a number of provisions were brought into line with current legislation and clarified from editorial and substantive points of view.
According to the deputies, the adoption of the bill will make it possible to more precisely define the powers of authorized bodies, ensure the proportionality and sufficiency of measures of influence for violations of established rules, increase the efficiency of state control, and create a legal basis for the ongoing reforms.
Following its approval by the Legislative Chamber, the document was sent to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis for consideration.
