Uzbekistan aims to increase the volume of artificial intelligence services to $1.5 billion. This was announced to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a presentation on the development of the artificial intelligence ecosystem, the press service of the Presidential Information Agency reported.

According to the data, Uzbekistan has risen 25 places in the international ranking of readiness for artificial intelligence, rising to 62nd place. By 2030, it is planned to include the country in the top 50 countries in the world in this ranking, increase the volume of software products and services based on artificial intelligence to $1.5 billion, and implement more than 200 new projects.

The presentation noted that the load of the supercomputer cluster based on NVIDIA technologies, launched last month in the "Digital Government" data center, reached 90 percent in a month. So far, $24 million has been allocated for this and other infrastructures, which are ranked 321st in terms of capacity in the world ranking. It is proposed to allocate another $70 million to increase the capacity of the cluster.

It was noted that the effectiveness of artificial intelligence solutions is directly dependent on a high-quality database. Therefore, the task was set to compile existing data in ministries and departments, ensure their completeness, reliability and interoperability, and form high-quality data sets across sectors.

This year, the task was set to increase the number of projects based on artificial intelligence in the economic and social sectors by 100. At the same time, it is expected to increase the number of residents working in the AI direction in the IT Park to 300, the volume of services provided to 2 trillion soums, and exports to 160 million dollars.

Special attention was paid to the issue of personnel training. To date, more than 1.5 million users have received a special certificate in artificial intelligence. Also, 900 managers, more than 3 thousand civil servants, 1 thousand bank employees and 200 consultants have been trained in special courses.

In the next two years, the task was set to fully implement the “Five Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders” project, develop modern educational and methodological materials for pupils, students, teachers and the general public.

At the same time, sectoral hackathons and competitions were held in the cities of Nukus, Samarkand, Termez, Bukhara, Fergana, Andijan, Gulistan and Jizzakh. The “Best Startup in Artificial Intelligence” competition was launched. It was instructed to organize such hackathons in all regions.

The activities of advisors to regional, district and city khokims on artificial intelligence were also discussed. 222 consultants were selected from 500 candidates. It was emphasized that it is necessary to widely involve young specialists who have studied abroad and are well versed in modern technologies in these positions, and to evaluate their work based on specific results and efficiency indicators.

The task was set to launch a separate digital platform designed to monitor and support the activities of consultants, their ongoing projects and initiatives.

As part of international cooperation, it was noted that Uzbekistan became a founding member of WAICO - the World Organization for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence, and through this, joint projects with large technology companies will be launched.

The President gave specific instructions to officials to consistently increase computing power, increase practical projects in the field, create a high-quality database, support talented youth and startups, and expand international cooperation.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan will launch the "Smart Farmer" digital platform based on artificial intelligence. The mobile application will allow users to identify livestock, call a veterinarian, order artificial insemination services, apply for subsidies, and receive advice based on artificial intelligence.
