Uzbekistan intends to increase the number of projects using artificial intelligence (AI) to 100.

According to Podrobno.uz news agency, this year Uzbekistan plans to increase the number of projects using artificial intelligence in the economic and social spheres to over 100. AI solutions will be implemented in areas such as healthcare, energy, transportation, customs, and others.

The development of practical applications of artificial intelligence were discussed during a presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the results and future objectives of developing an AI ecosystem in the country.

Priority areas identified include healthcare, energy, transportation, customs administration, legal services, public safety, ecology, and geology. These sectors will implement digital solutions to improve process efficiency.

To implement these projects, the authorities intend to strengthen cooperation with IT Park residents, startups, and more than 20 artificial intelligence laboratories.

By the end of the year, the number of residents working in the AI field is expected to reach 300. The volume of services they provide is projected to reach 2 trillion soums, with exports reaching $160 million.

The development of AI projects is part of a broader program to create Uzbekistan's own artificial intelligence ecosystem, including infrastructure, specialist training, and the implementation of technologies in various industries.

It was previously reported that Uzbekistan plans to allocate an additional $70 million to expand the computing capacity necessary for the development of AI projects. These funds are expected to be used to modernize the existing cluster and create new infrastructure.
