Uzbekistan has updated requirements for parking and charging stations for electric vehicles.

Updated parking design requirements have come into effect in Uzbekistan, including regulations for the placement of charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as safety and environmental standards. These changes were registered by the Ministry of Justice on August 11.
According to the new regulations, charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles can be installed in outdoor parking lots and areas that meet certain fire safety standards. In indoor parking lots, their placement is now permitted only on the first underground or first above-ground floor.
In mountainous and foothill areas, a ban has been introduced on the construction of parking lots in areas of natural watercourses, mudflow channels, active landslide areas, avalanche sites, and along predicted rockfall trajectories. Before construction begins in such regions, engineering-geological and hydrometeorological studies will be required.
Contaminated surface runoff from parking lots near bodies of water must be collected separately and sent for treatment. Where connection to centralized treatment facilities is not possible, wastewater must be collected in dedicated reservoirs.
For tourist attractions, the required number of parking spaces must now be calculated based on the peak seasonal influx of visitors.
New safety requirements also apply. In open parking lots and other areas where there is a risk of vehicle falls, barriers at least 1.2 meters high and capable of withstanding a horizontal load of at least 26.7 kilonewtons must be installed.
In addition, separate spaces for motorcycles, mopeds, scooters, and bicycles are provided. These must be located near pedestrian entrances, in well-lit and visible areas.
Evacuation regulations have also changed. In underground parking lots, the maximum distance from the furthest parking space to the nearest evacuation exit must not exceed 40 meters, and in dead-end areas, 20 meters. For surface parking lots, these limits are 60 and 25 meters, respectively.
Surface runoff treatment facilities are now mandatory for parking lots with a capacity of over 100 vehicles, as well as for facilities whose wastewater enters water bodies and drinking water sources.
