Uzbekistan has introduced a 30-day visa-free regime for citizens of India
Citizens of India holding visas from a number of developed countries will be able to enter Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 30 days, subject to certain conditions.
Uzbekistan has established a 30-day visa-free regime for citizens of India
Citizens of India can now enter Uzbekistan without a visa for up to 30 days, provided they hold a valid multiple-entry business or tourist visa from a number of countries and an air ticket to India or a third country. The new rules came into effect on September 1 in accordance with a decree by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated August 29.
The visa-free regime applies to citizens of India who hold a valid multiple-entry business or tourist visa for Australia, the USA, the UK, Canada, the Republic of Korea, the Schengen Area countries, New Zealand, or Japan.
In addition to the relevant visa, entry into Uzbekistan requires an air ticket to one's home country or a third country. Subject to these conditions, citizens of India will be able to stay in Uzbekistan without a visa for up to 30 days.
Plans to introduce a visa-free regime for Indian citizens became known following talks between Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which took place in Tashkent on August 30. At that time, the detailed conditions of the new regime had not yet been disclosed.
Against the backdrop of changing rules, the number of tourist trips by Indian citizens to Uzbekistan has increased significantly in recent years. In 2023, 45.5 thousand Indian citizens visited the country, in 2024 — 70.6 thousand, and in 2025, the figure reached 80.9 thousand trips.
At the end of 2025, India ranked ninth among countries in terms of the number of inbound tourist trips to Uzbekistan. Between 2022 and 2025, this figure increased almost 1.8 times.
For citizens of Uzbekistan, a visa is still required when traveling to India. It can be applied for online, although for certain visa categories, a visit to the Indian Embassy is necessary.
In addition, before arriving in India, citizens of Uzbekistan must fill out an electronic arrival card (e-Arrival Card) no later than 72 hours prior to entry.
