**Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan sign energy cooperation roadmap for 2026–2028**

Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have signed a roadmap to broaden energy cooperation for 2026–2028, covering renewable energy, oil and gas projects, oil supplies, refining and geological exploration.

The document was signed after a meeting in Baku on September 17 between Uzbekistan’s Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjayev and Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov. The talks centered on carrying out the agreements and tasks set out during the August meeting between Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev, as well as on further developing cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.

The ministers examined ways to expand bilateral energy cooperation and launch new joint projects, with special focus on the oil and gas industry. Cooperation in the electric power sector and renewable energy was also discussed. The two sides reviewed the Central Asia–Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor project, which is among the areas covered by the newly signed roadmap.

The discussions also covered geological exploration and possible cooperation in oil and gas exploration and production. Other topics included supplies of oil and petroleum products and the development of joint oil refining projects. The roadmap signed by the energy ministries defines cooperation areas for the 2026–2028 period. These include implementation of the Green Energy Corridor project, oil and gas exploration and production, oil and petroleum product supplies and joint projects in oil refining.

The document also makes provision for expanding the activities of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Uzbekistan. The two countries are advancing energy cooperation within their broader strategic partnership, and the new roadmap sets out practical areas of engagement for their energy ministries over the next three years.
