Azerbaijan's SOCAR plans to open a network of gas stations in Uzbekistan.

Uzbekneftegaz Joint Stock Company and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have signed a cooperation agreement on the development of a network of gas stations for modern cars in Uzbekistan. The document was signed on August 22 in Tashkent within the framework of the IV Interregional Forum of the two countries. The event took place on the eve of the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Tashkent.

According to the Uzbekneftegaz press service, the parties intend to jointly study and assess the possibilities of developing a network of gas stations, identify possible locations for opening stations, as well as consider acceptable business models and mechanisms for implementing the project.

In August 2023, Uzbekneftegaz and SOCAR signed an agreement on the implementation of joint projects in the oil and gas sector of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. In July 2025, they signed an agreement on product distribution. This document provides for the conduct of geological exploration work in the investment blocks of the Ustyurt oil and gas region and the subsequent extraction of hydrocarbons. The project was launched in December last year.
