Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union discussed new areas of cooperation

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva met with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Anda Filip within the framework of the XII Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians.

According to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the parties reviewed the current state of cooperation, the results achieved, and priority areas of interaction.

Anda Filip highly praised Uzbekistan's initiatives aimed at developing cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Among the significant outcomes of the country's active participation in the international inter-parliamentary dialogue were the holding of the Global Forum on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Bukhara, the Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament in Tashkent, as well as the Asian Women's Forums in Samarkand and Bukhara.

Special note was made of the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in April 2025 in Tashkent. This event became the first such meeting of the organization in Central Asia.

During the meeting, the parties also emphasized the significance of the UN General Assembly resolutions adopted at the initiative of Uzbekistan and aimed at strengthening the role of parliaments in international and global processes. These initiatives were described as one of the important directions of the country's parliamentary diplomacy.

The parties paid special attention to the further development of interaction within the framework of the new Strategy of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The meeting participants exchanged views on strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, expanding the exchange of experience, promoting new joint initiatives, and implementing practical projects.
