Uzbekistan and Serbia Intend to Expand Trade and Economic Cooperation
On September 7, the first meeting of the Uzbek-Serbian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Belgrade.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, and the Minister for International Economic Relations of Serbia, Nenad Popovic.
The parties discussed the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, investment growth, and the development of industrial cooperation. Special attention was paid to preparing for the start of negotiations on a free trade agreement.
Among the promising areas of cooperation identified were pharmaceuticals, the textile industry, agriculture, critical minerals, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence.
The meeting participants also reviewed issues of simplifying cargo transportation between the two countries and prospects for cooperation in the field of railway infrastructure.
The second meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission is planned to be held in 2027 in Uzbekistan.
During the visit, Laziz Kudratov also held a series of meetings and negotiations with heads of major Serbian companies. The parties discussed opportunities for the further development of business ties and cooperation in priority areas.
