Uzbekistan and Serbia are increasing cooperation in the field of horticulture

Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Serbian company "Evro Kalem Trade Ltd" discussed prospects for partnership in the development of modern nursery breeding and intensive horticulture in the country.

The discussion focused on the creation of a modern nursery, the introduction of advanced agricultural technologies, and the adaptation of export-oriented fruit crop varieties to the agro-climatic conditions of Uzbekistan.

The parties consider the organization of a nursery for growing planting material in Uzbekistan as one of the possible areas of cooperation. It is planned to introduce modern production technologies, as well as to grow and propagate high-yielding fruit varieties that are in demand on the market.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to apple trees, including the "Pink Lady" variety and other promising cultivars. The parties proposed to study their adaptability to various agro-climatic conditions of Uzbekistan. To achieve this, testing is planned on experimental plots, after which the most promising varieties can be widely introduced into production.

A separate direction of the project could be the creation of a modern nursery and intensive orchards in the Jizzakh region. The meeting participants discussed the possibilities of efficient use of the region's land and water resources, its agro-climatic conditions, and existing infrastructure.

It is expected that within the framework of the project, high-quality certified planting material will be grown and intensive orchards will be established in the region. This will also create conditions for the production of fruit saplings, taking into account quality and certification requirements.

The cooperation envisages the transfer of experience from Serbian colleagues to Uzbek specialists. In particular, the parties intend to consider the introduction of modern grafting methods, the organization of the production of high-quality rootstocks and certified saplings, as well as professional development for local specialists.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working on the project concept. The next stage will be the identification of suitable land plots for its implementation in the Jizzakh region and further work on creating a modern base for growing fruit saplings in Uzbekistan.

The cooperation is expected to be aimed at developing intensive horticulture, increasing the production of high-quality and certified planting material, as well as expanding opportunities for selling the grown products on domestic and foreign markets.
