The talks were held during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Transport Minister Ilhom Mahkamov and Andreas Stöckli, a member of the Rhenus Group Board of Management.
The two sides also examined the work of UzContargo, a joint venture created by Uztemiryolkonteyner and the Rhenus group of companies.
A key issue was accelerating the reconstruction of the Andijan freight terminal. The participants also discussed creating “green corridors” to shorten cargo delivery times to Uzbekistan.
Mahkamov briefed the meeting on progress in the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project, noting that modern logistics infrastructure in Andijan would increase the attractiveness and transit capacity of the new international transport corridor.
Stöckli said Rhenus was interested in taking part further in projects to develop freight terminals in Tashkent region, Samarkand and Termez. He also highlighted Uzbekistan’s potential to emerge as a regional transport and logistics hub.
The two sides agreed to keep up practical cooperation and jointly pursue promising transport and logistics projects.
