Uzbekistan and Pakistan to expand cooperation in tourism

Uzbekistan and Pakistan discussed expanding cooperation in the tourism sector, increasing mutual tourist flows and developing new destinations. The meeting was held within the framework of the second meeting of the Joint Working Group on Tourism of the two countries. This was reported by the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to statistics, 18,752 tourists from Pakistan visited Uzbekistan in 2025. In January-July 2026, 13,095 Pakistani citizens visited the country. Thus, the figure for the first seven months of this year reached 70 percent of the total number of tourists from this country in 2025.

The meeting also discussed the development of direct air travel. Currently, six flights a week are operated between Uzbekistan and Pakistan: four on the Tashkent-Lahore route and two on the Tashkent-Islamabad route.

In September, Centrum Air plans to launch a direct flight on the Tashkent-Karachi route. After the launch of this flight, the number of regular direct flights between the two countries should reach eight per week.

The participants of the meeting proposed expanding cooperation in several areas. In particular, the parties plan to jointly develop pilgrimage, gastronomic, medical, MICE and educational tourism.

The Uzbek side also invited Pakistani tourism companies to participate in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair - "Tourism on the Silk Road" (TMTYA-2026). The event will be held in Tashkent on November 25-27, 2026.

Following the meeting, the parties continued to work on strengthening tourism ties and expanding mutual tourism exchanges.
