Uzbekistan and Korea discussed digitalization of rice farming
Uzbekistan and South Korea discussed the digitalization of rice farming, the use of AI, remote crop monitoring, and joint research projects.

Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea held talks on the digitalization of the rice industry.
A meeting with Kim Sang-hyun, Director of the International Center for Agricultural Cooperation, Macro-Agricultural Policy Division of the Republic of Korea, took place at the Rice Research Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, the key topics of discussion were the digitalization of the sector, the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies, and strengthening scientific cooperation.
Abdullo Mansurov, Director of the Institute, briefed the Korean delegation on the institute's main activities. He spoke in detail about research work in rice cultivation, the breeding of new rice varieties, the development of advanced agricultural technologies, and measures to strengthen ties between science and industry.
The digital transformation of rice cultivation took center stage during the discussion. Participants examined the potential of using artificial intelligence technologies to increase rice productivity and improve crop monitoring.
Specifically, the parties discussed the possibility of creating a modern digital platform capable of proactively identifying and predicting potential problems in rice cultivation. It is expected that this platform will also be used for remote crop monitoring, optimization of agricultural practices, and yield forecasting.
Particular attention was paid to integrating scientific research results into a digital database. The parties also exchanged views on the introduction of modern technologies into rice cultivation practices and the advanced training of both specialists and young scientists.
Expanding the exchange of experience between scientists from Uzbekistan and South Korea was another important item on the agenda. Following the meeting, promising areas for the development of digital and innovative technologies in rice cultivation, as well as potential areas for joint research projects, were identified.
Furthermore, the participants agreed to focus on enhancing the professional skills of specialists and further developing scientific cooperation between the two countries.
