Uzbekistan and Japan to expand cooperation in agriculture
Uzbekistan and JICA discussed new agricultural projects, concessional financing from Japan, and agricultural modernization and technology.

Uzbekistan and Japan intend to deepen their partnership in the agricultural sector.

Uzbek Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alisher Shukurov held talks with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). During the meeting, the parties examined ways to expand cooperation in the agricultural sector, discussed potential new projects, and discussed promising areas of collaboration, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.
The central agenda item was the attraction of new projects financed by concessional loans from the Japanese government under the ODA Loan program. The participants also exchanged views on agricultural modernization, the introduction of innovative technologies, and the development of investment cooperation.
The meeting emphasized that key objectives for Uzbekistan's agricultural sector remain improving production efficiency, rational water resource management, wider application of modern agricultural technologies, and enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural products.
In this regard, the parties discussed the possibility of leveraging advanced Japanese experience to develop Uzbekistan's agriculture. Following the meeting, representatives of Uzbekistan and JICA confirmed their commitment to continue strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation and jointly implementing promising projects in the agricultural sector.
