Uzbekistan and JICA signed a protocol on cooperation in the development of free economic zones.
According to Podrobno.uz, a meeting was held in Tashkent between Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov and a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led by Sakai Mamoru, Head of the Representative Office in Uzbekistan.
During the talks, the parties reviewed the progress of the technical cooperation project aimed at stimulating the development of free economic zones, attracting foreign direct investment, and promoting industrial growth in the country. The results of the JICA diagnostic mission, which included representatives of relevant ministries and free economic zone management, were also presented.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed outlining the next stages of the project. This initiative is expected to significantly contribute to strengthening Uzbek-Japanese relations, developing the industrial sector, and increasing Uzbekistan's investment attractiveness.
