JSC "Uzbekhydroenergo" and a major Chinese energy corporation: from strategic cooperation toward practical projects
Islom Abduraxmonov, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Uzbekhydroenergo", held a meeting with the leadership of China Energy International Group, one of China's largest state-owned energy corporations. During the dialogue, issues regarding the implementation of promising investment projects, the introduction of modern technologies, and the development of long-term strategic cooperation were discussed within the framework of executing the tasks set in Resolution No. PQ-163 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 1, 2026, "On urgent measures for the further development of the hydropower sector."
The parties considered matters of attracting international investments, jointly developing and implementing promising hydropower projects, modernizing existing capacities, as well as introducing modern technologies and advanced engineering solutions.
Special attention was also paid to the opportunities for increasing production efficiency, expanding cooperation with design institutes within the Company's system, and mutual knowledge sharing through staff exchange and professional development of specialists.
Issues regarding the development of long-term strategic cooperation and ensuring the sustainable development of Uzbekistan's hydropower sector through adapting advanced international experience to local conditions were also discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, expand practical partnership, and develop and implement new joint projects.
The significance of this cooperation is determined by China Energy International Group's position in the international energy market, its experience in constructing large infrastructure facilities, and its capacity to implement comprehensive engineering solutions.
