Uzbekfilm's tax debt of over 1 billion soums has been fully repaid

The tax debt of Uzbekfilm, which amounted to more than 1 billion soums, has been completely eliminated. This was announced by Jahongir Ahmedov, First Deputy Minister of Culture - Director of the Cinematography Agency.

It is noted that 12 cars that were expected to be auctioned have also been returned to the studio. Now it is planned to cover the accumulated salary debt of more than 3 billion soums.

Ahmedov noted that the most pressing problem is the loan obligation of Uzbekfilm, which amounts to 22 million euros. It was reported that work is underway in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Finance to release the studio from the mortgage, along with a 10-hectare plot of land, and to resolve the loan obligation.

At the end of August, Jahongir Ahmedov announced that the Uzbekfilm studio, which occupies an important place in the almost century-old history of Uzbek cinema, is currently facing serious financial difficulties.

It was added that the film studio cannot survive if it does not fulfill orders worth at least 60 billion soums a year. That is, it is emphasized that it has become practically dependent on state orders.
