Uzbekfilm has paid off its billion-dollar tax debt.

The Uzbekfilm National Film Studio has fully paid off its tax debt, which exceeded one billion soums. As a result, twelve cars, previously planned to be auctioned off to pay off the debt, have been returned to the studio.

This information was confirmed by Jahongir Akhmedov, Director of the Cinematography Agency.

The studio's management now intends to pay off its outstanding wage arrears to its employees, which amount to over three billion soums. Akhmedov stated that this debt will also be paid in full.

However, the most significant financial burden for Uzbekfilm remains a loan of approximately 22 million euros. The film studio, including a ten-hectare plot of land, is pledged. The Agency, together with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, is taking steps to release the property from the pledge and settle the loan obligations.

It was previously reported that Uzbekfilm's total loan obligations reached 22.9 million euros. At the time, the studio also had a tax debt of over one billion soums, which could have led to the sale of twelve cars at auction.
