Uzbek Think Tanks Discuss Industrial Productivity Growth
IMRI hosted a seminar for 14 Uzbek think tanks on evaluating industrial productivity and adopting international standards.
Uzbekistan's Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRI), operating under the Cabinet of Ministers, recently conducted a training seminar focused on enhancing industrial enterprise productivity, as reported by IMRI. The event drew specialists from 14 prominent national think tanks.
Attendees delved into hands-on strategies for assessing enterprise performance directly within facilities. This included charting production processes to pinpoint areas of resource depletion and operational shortcomings. A significant portion of the discussion centered on the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) framework, an initiative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Experts additionally explored methods for reducing waste and defects through the application of Lean Management, Six Sigma, and 5S principles.
The seminar also featured conversations about improving enterprise environmental management to align with evolving international market entry criteria. Specifically, participants scrutinized the importance of ISO 14001 and ISO 14064 standards, in conjunction with product conformity mandates like CE marking.
At the conclusion of the seminar, participants were encouraged to implement these learned methodologies during enterprise assessments within the sectors and regions assigned to their respective research organizations. The aim is to leverage the gathered data to craft specific recommendations for boosting operational efficiency. Furthermore, the participants committed to fostering ongoing inter-institutional cooperation for the exchange of methodological resources and practical insights.
