Think tanks in Uzbekistan discussed productivity growth
IMRI held a seminar for specialists from 14 think tanks in Uzbekistan on improving the productivity of industrial enterprises.
A training seminar on improving industrial productivity was held in Uzbekistan, organized by the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRS) under the Cabinet of Ministers. Experts from 14 leading analytical centers in the country participated in the event, according to IMRS.
During the seminar, participants learned practical approaches to assessing enterprise performance directly at production sites. Methods for mapping production processes and identifying resource waste and inefficient operations were discussed.
Particular attention was paid to the Resource Conservation and Cleaner Production (RECP) concept developed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Specialists also studied Lean Management, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies aimed at reducing excess waste and defects.
The seminar addressed issues of improving environmental management in the context of entering international markets and adapting to new global requirements. Specifically, the importance of ISO 14001 and ISO 14064 standards, as well as product conformity requirements, including CE marking, were discussed.
Following the event, participants were encouraged to apply the presented methodologies when analyzing enterprises in the industries and regions assigned to their research organizations. It is expected that the results of this analysis will be used to develop targeted, practical recommendations for improving enterprise efficiency.
The participants also agreed to continue systematic collaboration between research organizations, including the regular exchange of methodological materials and practical experience.
The seminar served as a platform for discussing practical tools for improving industrial enterprise productivity and further collaboration between Russian research organizations.
