The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan expressed deep grief over the horrific attack carried out by Houthis on the King Khalid International Airport in the city of Riyadh, which caused the death of innocent people and injuries to civilians, and issued a statement strongly condemning the attack.

On Saturday, a missile strike on the international airport in Saudi Arabia killed 12 people and injured 310 others. Dozens of the wounded are reported to be in critical condition. Among the victims, in addition to Saudi Arabia, there are also citizens of the US, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, and Sudan.

According to The New York Times, this was the deadliest attack on an Arab state in the region since the US and Israel launched a war against Iran. Two days earlier, on October 8, a drone strike on the same airport killed three people, including a Saudia airline pilot, injured several others, and set fire to an aircraft parked on the airport premises.

"We offer our condolences to the family members and relatives of those who died and express our deep sympathy to those affected by this tragic event. We wish the injured a speedy and full recovery. We also reaffirm our firm support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure objects are a serious violation of international law norms, and such actions must be stopped immediately. Protecting the lives of civilians and ensuring the safety of critical infrastructure objects must remain an unconditional priority," the MFA statement said.

The ministry called for an "immediate cessation" of such attacks: "We strongly appeal to all parties to exercise restraint, prevent further escalation of tension, and resolve disagreements through dialogue and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter."

"The Republic of Uzbekistan expresses its solidarity with the people and Government of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reaffirms its commitment to strengthening peace, stability, and security in the region," the MFA of Uzbekistan added.
