Uzbek cinema was recognized at the 7th Lendoc Film Festival, an international film festival featuring Russia and neighboring countries, held in St. Petersburg from August 20 to 22.
Thirty-nine feature and documentary films from 13 countries were screened in the festival's competition and non-competition programs.
Uzbekistan presented both full-length and short films at the festival. Among them were the historical drama "Kazbek," about Hero of the Soviet Union Mamadali Topvaldyev, the film "Makhtumkuli," the drama "In Pursuit of Spring," and short films by director Shamshod Ismatov.
The student program showcased works by students from the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan.
A key achievement of the Uzbek delegation was the awarding of an award to Ulugbek Kadyrov. The actor won the Best Actor award in the Feature Film category for his role in "Kazbek."
The award ceremony for representatives of Uzbekistan took place in St. Petersburg. Films by Uzbek filmmakers also received positive reviews from audiences.
