An F-16 fighter jet belonging to the US has crashed in Germany

A military aircraft has crashed near the US Spangdahlem Air Base located in Germany.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 22. According to the SWR broadcasting company, the Spangdahlem Air Base has officially confirmed the crash of the fighter jet.

The pilot managed to eject from the aircraft. He is currently receiving medical assistance. Emergency services have arrived at the scene. The causes of the crash are being investigated.

According to the German Air Traffic Control service, the accident occurred after training exercises — one of the fighter jets returning to the base crashed onto a golf course.

Local residents saw smoke rising into the sky after the crash.

For reference, a squadron of about 20 F-16 fighter jets is stationed at the Spangdahlem Air Base. In recent months, numerous US transport aircraft have also been recorded at the base.
