An F-16 fighter jet crashed in the Yalova region of Turkey. CNN reported this, citing the country's Ministry of Defense.
According to reports, the plane crashed during a training exercise. The pilot managed to eject and survived.
The ministry's statement said: "One of our F-16 aircraft crashed during a training flight in Yalova."
The reasons for the crash of the fighter jet are not yet clear. The Turkish Ministry of Defense said that the details of the crash will be known after a thorough investigation. Images from the scene are widely circulated on social media. The video shows the fighter jet falling to the ground and the F-16 instantly exploding upon impact.
Recall that in February, an F-16 fighter jet crashed on a highway in Turkey, causing a large fire. It took off from the main air base in Balikesir at around 1:00 am local time. After the flight, contact with the aircraft was lost. The pilot died in the crash. The causes of the crash are being determined by a special commission to investigate aviation accidents.
